Why the sign-up step deserves five careful minutes

Your account is where everything else hangs: campaign eligibility, deadlines, payouts, course progress and the name printed on your certificates. Most problems new members hit later (a deadline that seemed to move, a missing verification email, a certificate with a nickname on it) trace back to a rushed sign-up. This lesson walks through the real Create your account flow, email verification, signing in with Google and what to do when something goes wrong.

Two ways to sign up

1. Email and password. Open Register (/register) and fill in:

FieldWhat to enterWhy it matters
EmailAn address you check dailyVerification links, password resets and payout notices go here
PasswordA long, unique password; the strength meter under the field helpsProtects your earnings and certificates
Display nameYour name or your handle (2 to 100 characters)Shown to reviewers and on your profile
CountryWhere you liveDecides which campaigns target you
LanguageYour main languageHelps match you to campaigns and content
Time zoneYour real time zoneThe form's hint says it is used for campaign deadlines and payout dates

Then there are two tick boxes. I accept the participant rules is required: it confirms you will only share from established accounts you own, always disclose paid posts and accept that every submission is reviewed. Email me about new campaigns and tips is optional, and you can unsubscribe at any time.

2. Continue with Google. The white Continue with Google button at the top of the form lets you sign up with your Google account instead of a password. After Google confirms who you are, you land on Finish creating your account, where you still choose your display name, country, language and time zone and accept the participant rules. An account created this way has no password at first. If you also want to sign in with your email address, open Profile → Security and choose Email me a link to set a password; the link goes to your verified address and expires in one hour.

If you arrived through a friend's referral link or an invitation, a You were invited notice at the top of the form shows the code that will be applied. You do not need to type it.

Verifying your email

After an email sign-up you see Check your email, telling you where the verification link was sent. Open the email and click the link. You will see Your email is verified.

Things worth knowing:

  • Verification links can only be used once and expire after a while. If yours has expired, the page says so and offers a form to request a fresh one.
  • Didn't get it? Check your spam or promotions folder first, then use the resend form on the Check your email page.
  • If you sign in before verifying, a banner inside your portal reminds you and has a Resend email button.
  • A verified email is one of the checks for joining campaigns, so do not skip this step.

Coming from a course page

If you clicked Enrol for free — start learning on a course in the Academy while signed out, the sign-up remembers where you were going. After you verify and sign in, you are taken straight back to that course, enrolled, and the first lesson opens. The Check your email page confirms this with a short note. The intent is remembered in that browser for about a week, so verify on the same device (or simply open the course again after signing in and press the button once more).

Signing in and recovering access

  • Sign in (/login) with your email and password, or with Continue with Google.
  • Too many failed attempts triggers a temporary Too many sign-in attempts message. Wait, then try again carefully instead of guessing repeatedly.
  • Forgot your password? Enter your email; if an account exists, a reset link is sent. For privacy the page shows the same message whether or not the address is registered.
  • After you change your password, you are signed out everywhere and asked to sign in again. That is deliberate: it removes access from any device you no longer control.

A worked example

Illustrative. Maryam, a marketing freelancer in Riyadh, wants the free SEO course certificate and to try a few campaigns.

  1. She clicks Enrol for free on the course page, then Create a free account.
  2. She registers with the email she uses for clients, sets the display name to her full name (she wants it on her certificates), country Saudi Arabia, language Arabic, time zone Riyadh.
  3. She reads the participant rules, ticks the box, and leaves the marketing tick box off for now.
  4. The verification email lands in her promotions tab; she clicks the link, signs in and is taken straight into lesson 1 of her course.

A month later a campaign deadline says 23:59. Because her time zone is correct, that is 23:59 in Riyadh, not in London.

Hands-on

Set up your account the right way, step by step:

  1. Open Register and decide: email and password, or Continue with Google.
  2. Use an email you check daily and a password you do not use anywhere else. Aim for the strength meter's strongest rating.
  3. Choose a display name you are happy for reviewers to see. If you want your legal name on certificates, use it here.
  4. Set country, language and time zone to where you actually live and post from.
  5. Read the participant rules before ticking the box.
  6. Open the verification email and click the link. If it does not arrive within a few minutes, check spam, then resend.
  7. Sign in and open Profile to confirm your details saved correctly.
  8. Optional: if you signed up with Google, go to Profile → Security and set a password so you have a second way in.

Common mistakes

  • Leaving the time zone on the default. Deadlines and payout dates are shown in your time zone; the wrong one makes a deadline look hours away when it has passed.
  • Joke display names. Reviewers see the name and it appears on your profile; choose something you would be comfortable putting on a certificate.
  • Registering twice with a second email because the first verification email seemed lost. Resend instead; duplicate accounts break the creator program rules.
  • Sharing a login with a friend or "manager". Your account, your profiles, your payouts.

How to know you have got it

You have a verified account, the right time zone, a display name you are proud of, and at least one reliable way to sign in (two if you used Google and then added a password).

Key takeaways

  • Sign up with email and password or Continue with Google; both require the participant rules.
  • Country, language and time zone shape the campaigns you see and how deadlines and payout dates are shown.
  • Verification links work once and expire; resend from the Check your email page or the portal banner instead of registering again.
  • Enrolling from a course while signed out brings you back to lesson 1 after you verify and sign in.
  • Google-created accounts have no password until you set one under Profile, Security.

Check your understanding

Quick questions to lock in the lesson. They don’t count towards your certificate.

  1. Your verification link says it has expired. What should you do?
  2. Why should your time zone be set correctly at sign-up?
  3. You signed up with Continue with Google. How can you also sign in with your email address?

Put it into practice

Sign in, open Profile and confirm your display name, country, language and time zone. If you signed up with Google, set a password under Security.
