About this course
Persuasion is powerful — and that's exactly why it must be used responsibly. This advanced course explores the psychology behind buying decisions, shows you where the ethical line sits for every technique, and teaches you to read the research honestly.
You'll apply four tests that separate persuasion from manipulation, learn which famous findings replicate (anchoring, defaults, framing) and which don't (ego depletion, power posing, social priming), and use Cialdini's seven principles of influence without deception. You'll design fair choice architecture and pricing under current rules, tell true stories, recover trust after mistakes, and adapt persuasion to buyers in Pakistan, the UAE, Saudi Arabia, the UK and the US. Finally, you'll recognise and remove dark patterns, apply consumer-protection principles across markets as of 2026 — including the UK DMCC Act, EU rules and FTC guidance — and set safeguards for AI-driven personalisation, chatbots and synthetic media under the EU AI Act.
