# Account settings, notifications and support

## Your control panel

Once your account exists, almost everything you can change about it lives under **Profile** in your portal. The profile area has four tabs, each with its own address so you can bookmark them:

| Tab | What it controls |
|---|---|
| **Profile** | Your details, interests, marketing emails and WhatsApp number; your earned course badges also show here |
| **Payout details** | How finance pays you (covered in the earnings lesson) |
| **Notifications** | Which messages reach you by email and WhatsApp |
| **Security** | Your password and Google sign-in |

Outside the profile area, two more places matter every day: the **notification bell** in the top bar (with the full **Notifications** page) and **Support**, where you ask the team for help.

## The Profile tab

**About you** holds your display name, country, language and time zone. The time zone hint is worth reading: *dates, deadlines and your post times are shown in this zone*. If you move from Karachi to Dubai, update it the day you arrive.

**Interests** are short tags (up to 40 characters each), for example *fitness*, *skincare* or *personal finance*. They help match you with relevant campaigns, so keep them honest and specific.

**Messages from us** has two switches that people often confuse:

- **Email me about new campaigns and tips** is your *marketing* email opt-in. It is optional. The description is explicit: *account, submission and payout emails are always sent* whatever you choose here.
- **WhatsApp number** and **Send me notifications on WhatsApp**. Enter the number in international format with the country code (the example on the page is `+923001234567`). Turning WhatsApp off removes the number. Which WhatsApp messages you get is chosen on the Notifications tab.

If you have passed any Academy courses, an **Earned badges** card also appears on this page, with each badge linking to its public verification page.

## The Notifications tab: what we send you

This tab is a table. Each row is a kind of notification, grouped under headings such as *Account* and *Creator program*. Each column is a channel: **Email** and **WhatsApp**. Tick or untick a cell, then press **Save preferences**. If you change your mind, **Discard changes** resets the table, and a counter shows how many unsaved changes you have.

Three rules explain everything you see:

1. **In-app notifications are always on.** The bell and the Notifications page always receive them; the table only controls email and WhatsApp.
2. **Essential messages cannot be turned off.** These show a lock and *Always on*. They include email verification, password reset, account status changes and *payout paid*.
3. **Marketing messages need two switches.** Rows such as *New campaigns* and *We miss you* are marketing. For email, they also need *Email me about new campaigns and tips* switched on in your Profile tab; the table reminds you of this under the row.

If WhatsApp shows as unavailable, the page explains why, usually with a link to add your WhatsApp number on the Profile tab.

Examples of rows you can control include *Submission decisions*, *Reversed approvals*, *Appeal outcomes*, *Earnings approved*, *Payout scheduled*, *Payout holds*, *Achievements*, *Referrals*, *Support replies* and *Discount codes*.

## Marketing emails outside your account

Newsletters and marketing emails sent by Optimize All include links at the bottom to **unsubscribe** or to open an **email preferences** page. Those links work without signing in. Use them when a specific newsletter is not for you.

## The Security tab

- **Change password** needs your current password, a new one and a confirmation. Afterwards you are signed out everywhere and asked to sign in again.
- **Set a password** appears instead if you created your account with Google and have no password yet.
- **Sign in with Google** lets you connect or disconnect a Google account. You cannot disconnect Google while it is your only way to sign in; set a password first.

## Getting help: Support

Open **Support** in the portal navigation. The page suggests checking the FAQ first; if you still need help, choose **New ticket**:

1. Pick a **Category**.
2. Write a clear **Subject**.
3. Under **How can we help?**, include links, dates and what you expected to happen.
4. Link the **related submission** or **related payout** when your question is about one, so the team sees exactly what you mean.

The team replies by email and inside the ticket. The form's hint is important: **never share passwords or full bank details** in a ticket. When your question is answered you can close the ticket; you can still read it later.

## A worked example

*Illustrative.* Daniel is a UK-based creator who gets too many emails but does not want to miss money-related updates.

- On **Profile**, he switches off *Email me about new campaigns and tips*. Marketing emails stop; account, submission and payout emails continue.
- He adds his WhatsApp number in international format and switches WhatsApp on.
- On **Notifications**, he unticks email for *Achievements* and *Referrals*, ticks WhatsApp for *Submission decisions* and *Payout scheduled*, and presses **Save preferences**.
- *Payout paid* still shows *Always on*, which is exactly what he wants.

Result: fewer emails, faster alerts for the two events he acts on, and nothing important is lost because everything still appears under the bell.

## Hands-on

1. Open **Profile** and check your time zone, language and interests. Add three specific interests.
2. Decide on marketing emails and set the switch accordingly.
3. Optional: add your WhatsApp number in international format and switch it on.
4. Open **Notifications**. For each group, decide which rows you want by email, which by WhatsApp, and which only in-app. Save.
5. Open **Security**. If you have a password, confirm it is unique. If you signed up with Google, set a password.
6. Open **Support** and read the FAQ link, so you know where answers live before you need them.

## Common mistakes

- **Expecting the marketing switch to stop payout emails.** It never does; those are transactional.
- **Forgetting to press Save preferences** on the Notifications tab. Check the unsaved-changes counter.
- **Putting bank details in a support ticket.** Payout details belong only on the Payout details tab.
- **Opening a general ticket about a submission** without linking it. Link it, and you will get an answer faster.

## Lecture transcript

### Your settings, your inbox

Quick question. How many emails did you get from apps this week that you didn't want? Probably a lot. And how many important ones did you miss because they were buried? That's the problem this lecture solves. You'll learn where every setting lives in your Optimize All profile, how to choose exactly which messages reach you by email or WhatsApp, why some messages can never be switched off, and how to get help from support in a way that gets you a fast answer.

### Why it matters

Why does this matter? Because notifications are how the platform talks to you about money and deadlines. A correction request on a submission usually needs a quick fix. A payout notice confirms you've been paid. If those are drowned in marketing emails, you react late. But if you switch everything off, you miss things. The goal isn't fewer messages. It's the right messages on the right channel.

### The mail room model

Here's the mental model. Think of your notifications like a building's mail room. Every message arrives in your in-app mailbox, the bell, no matter what. That's always on. Then you decide which messages also get forwarded to email and which to WhatsApp. A few letters are registered mail, like password resets and payout paid notices. Those are always delivered, and you can't refuse them. And marketing letters, like new campaign announcements, need your general permission first, which is the marketing switch on your Profile tab.

### Four tabs

Let's map the profile area. Open Profile in the portal navigation. You'll see four tabs. Profile holds your details: display name, country, language, time zone and interests. It also holds Messages from us, with the marketing email switch and your WhatsApp number. Payout details is how finance pays you, which we'll cover in the earnings lesson. Notifications is the channel table. And Security is your password and Google sign-in. If you've passed any academy courses, an Earned badges card shows up on the Profile tab too.

### Example 1: Aisha quiets her inbox

A simple example. Aisha in Abu Dhabi just wants fewer emails. On the Profile tab she switches off Email me about new campaigns and tips. Read the description under that switch: account, submission and payout emails are always sent. So she hasn't lost anything important. She's only stopped marketing. That one switch is the fastest way to quiet your inbox without risking a missed payout notice.

### Example 2: Daniel's setup (illustrative)

Now a realistic scenario, with illustrative details. Daniel is a creator in Manchester who submits around ten posts a week. He wants instant alerts for things he must act on and nothing else. First, on the Profile tab, he adds his WhatsApp number in international format, with the plus and the country code, and switches WhatsApp notifications on. Then he opens the Notifications tab. He ticks WhatsApp for Submission decisions, because a correction request needs a fast fix, and for Payout scheduled. He unticks email for Achievements and Referrals. He leaves Support replies on email. He presses Save preferences. Payout paid still shows a lock and Always on. That's exactly right.

### Watch me: the Notifications tab

Watch me do it. I'm on the Notifications tab. At the top it says, what we send you, and explains that in-app notifications are always on and essential account and payout messages can't be turned off. The rows are grouped: Account first, then Creator program. I tick and untick a few cells. Notice the counter at the bottom that says how many unsaved changes I have, and the Discard changes button. Under the New campaigns row there's a note: email also needs marketing emails turned on in your profile. I press Save preferences, and a confirmation appears. Now I click the bell in the top bar. There are my latest notifications, and each one links to the thing it's about. For the full history, I open Notifications in the portal navigation, where I can filter and mark things as read.

### Security and Support

Two more places to know. Security first. Change password needs your current password, a new one and a confirmation, and afterwards you're signed out everywhere. The Sign in with Google card connects or disconnects Google, but you can't disconnect it if it's your only way in. Set a password first. Then Support. Choose New ticket, pick a category, write a clear subject, and explain what happened with dates and links. If it's about a submission or a payout, link it in the form. And please, never paste passwords or full bank details into a ticket.

### Quick check: Hina's settings

Let's test your understanding with a quick scenario. Hina, in Lahore, has switched off every row for email on the Notifications tab, and switched off marketing emails. A payout is paid to her the following week. Does she get an email about it? Think for a second. Yes, she does. Payout paid is an essential message, so it shows Always on, and it can't be turned off. She'll also see it under the bell, because in-app notifications are always on. What she won't get are emails for the rows she unticked, like achievements or referrals, or marketing messages about new campaigns.

### Measure it after two weeks

And here's how to measure whether your settings are right. After two weeks, ask yourself three questions. Did I react to every correction request within a day? Did I know when each payout was scheduled and paid? And did I read, or at least skim, most of the emails I received? If the answer to the first two is no, add WhatsApp or email to those rows. If the answer to the third is no, you're getting too much, so untick a few more. Settings aren't a one time job. Tune them once or twice, and then leave them alone.

### Newsletters and marketing emails

A quick note on emails you receive outside your account, like newsletters. At the bottom of Optimize All marketing emails, you'll find links to unsubscribe or to open an email preferences page. Those work without signing in. So if one particular newsletter isn't for you, use its own unsubscribe link. It's faster than hunting through settings, and it only affects that kind of email.

### Common mistakes

Common mistakes. Thinking the marketing switch stops payout emails. It doesn't. Forgetting to press Save preferences. Watch the counter. Putting bank details in a support ticket, when they belong only on Payout details. And opening a vague ticket about a submission without linking it, which forces the team to ask you which one you mean.

### Recap and try this now

Let's recap. Profile has four tabs: your details, payout details, notifications and security. Every message reaches the bell. You choose email and WhatsApp per row. Essentials are always on, and marketing needs your opt-in. Security protects your sign-in, and Support tickets get faster answers when you link the submission or payout. Try this now. Open your Notifications tab and decide, row by row, what you truly need by email or WhatsApp. Save it. Next up, we move into the creator program itself: campaigns and eligibility.

## Key takeaways

- Profile has four tabs: Profile, Payout details, Notifications and Security.
- In-app notifications are always on; the Notifications table controls email and WhatsApp per row.
- Essential messages such as password reset and payout paid cannot be turned off; marketing email also needs the marketing switch on.
- Support tickets get faster answers when you link the related submission or payout, and must never contain passwords or full bank details.

## Try it

Open Profile, then Notifications, and set each row to the channels you actually need; press Save preferences and confirm the bell still shows your latest updates.
